The one thing that is so appealing about joining a burlesque class is knowing that burlesque really is for everyone. Burlesque understands that everyone has different abilities and what one person might find easy, another person may find it impossible. Burlesque teaches us to respect the differences of others and adapt to their abilities, whilst still looking fabulous when doing so!

Age simply has nothing to do with it, there is no ‘I am too old for burlesque’ there is no age for burlesque, it is a celebration of women coming together to be creative and learn to love themselves and love their bodies. Your age is just simply irrelevant.

Burlesque was founded by women we regard as legends and these legends are still driving it forward. Every year we celebrate them at BHOF, no one says they are too old to be there. We all whoop and cheer over their sass and admire the fact that they are the entertainment at one of the biggest events in the burlesque calendar.

Age Is Just A Number

One of the most fabulous things about burlesque, is that beauty is found in the differences, in the celebration of variety, age is just a number of no importance what so ever. Burlesque is one of the most diverse arts out there, and ALL ages are welcome, including yours! Whatever your age burlesque provides an all-inclusive, and all encouraging environment where you can learn to shimmy and shake your wobbly bits, whilst looking sensational doing it!

Our ladies in our classes range from the ages of 25 right up to the age of 73. Some of the things that our ladies in their 70’s can do our ladies in their 25’s and 30’s can’t do. Some of the things that our ladies in their 50’s can do our ladies in their 30’s and 40’s can’t do, that is just the magic of burlesque. Our classes are filled with creative, colourful and diverse ladies of all ages, we wouldn’t have it any other way, and together we are an empowerment of extraordinary women creating beautiful things.

The Importance Of Your Burlesque Family

When you step into one of our classes you will soon realize you are stepping into a room of women who are so supportive, so encouraging and so empowering of one another, and they are your burlesque family. The one thing that is guaranteed to boost your confidence the most, is finding yourself amongst a lovely group of like-minded friends who will never judge, never belittle and never demean anything that you do. Instead they will support and encourage you when support and encouragement is needed, help you with different moves and turns when it just doesn’t work, laugh and giggle with you when a prop isn’t doing what you want it to do and it wants to do it’s own thing, but most importantly they will be happy and proud to watch you flourish and grow into the burlesque goddess you were born to be.

You will soon see the importance of being part of your burlesque family because you are welcomed from the day you walk into your class, no matter what age you are. We believe that as you grow in age, you become more. Your age is simply a number, a number of sparkles, gems, and pearls you wear on a corset, a number of fluttering feathers in a set of ostrich fans, a number of rose petals you sprinkle across the floor. We all have a number and that is what makes each and everyone one of us our own special burlesque number in our own special burlesque class.
