Celebrating One Year of Selby Sirens

Celebrating One Year of Magic with the Selby Sirens

Happy 1st Anniversary to the Selby Sirens. This past year has been filled with laughter, growth, and unforgettable moments, as a group of strong, confident women came together to explore the empowering world of burlesque. From the very first class to stepping onto the stage, the Selby Sirens have shone with confidence, courage, and connection. As we celebrate this milestone, it feels only right to reflect on the journey so far and look ahead to many more years of friendship, fun, and fabulous routines.

Welcome To Burlesque - 2019

The Beginnings of Brilliance

From the moment the Selby Sirens first came together, there was an unmistakable spark. Women from all walks of life stepped into the studio, united by curiosity, excitement, and a desire to explore burlesque in a supportive and welcoming environment. Under the guidance of Burlesque With Paris, the class quickly became more than a place to learn choreography. It became a sanctuary where encouragement, respect, and self-belief flourished.

Newcomers were welcomed with open arms, and every member was encouraged to embrace their individuality. As routines were learned and confidence began to grow, the Selby Sirens transformed from a collection of individuals into a close knit community. Each class strengthened bonds, celebrated progress, and reinforced the belief that everyone had something special to bring to the dance floor.

A Journey into Confidence and Glamour

One of the most powerful experiences of the year came through the Burlesque Makeover and Photo Shoots. These sessions offered the Selby Sirens an opportunity to fully step into their burlesque personas and see themselves through a new lens. With expert guidance, each participant explored their own unique style, sensuality, and confidence.

These moments went far beyond costumes and make up. They were about self acceptance, self expression, and owning space with pride. As the Sirens posed for the camera, confidence radiated from within. The images captured were not just photographs, but lasting reminders of strength, beauty, and personal growth.

Community, Charity, and Dance Beats

The Selby Sirens also embraced the power of community through their involvement in the Tesco Dance Beats charity event. Alongside the Goole Goddesses and Selby Starlets, the Sirens transformed an everyday shopping trip into a joyful celebration of movement and generosity. Dancing in support of Cancer Research, British Heart Foundation, and Diabetes UK, the class demonstrated how burlesque can bring people together for a meaningful cause.

This event highlighted the Sirens’ commitment not only to performance, but to connection, kindness, and giving back. Laughter filled the space as shoppers joined in, proving that dance truly has the power to unite.

A Year of Spectacular Routines

Throughout their first year, the Selby Sirens explored a variety of burlesque styles, each enhanced by carefully chosen props that added depth and drama to their performances. Hats played a starring role in That Man, while boas brought timeless elegance to I Just Want To Make Love To You. Umbrellas transformed Singing In The Rain into a visual spectacle, and ostrich fans added mystery and allure to Feeling Good. Welcome To Burlesque allowed the Sirens to revisit classic tease with confidence and flair.

Over the year, the Selby Sirens mastered and performed a range of routines including That Man with hats, I Just Want To Make Love To You with boas, Singing In The Rain with umbrellas, Feeling Good with ostrich fans, Welcome To Burlesque with boas, their annual show routine to I Just Want To Make Love To You, and Santa Baby performed with no props.

Looking Ahead

The Selby Sirens’ first year has been filled with courage, creativity, and connection. What began as a new class quickly became a community where confidence thrives, and individuality is celebrated. As they step into their second year, the Sirens carry with them the strength, friendships, and memories built along the way.

Here’s to one magical year of Selby Sirens, and to many more filled with sparkle, self-expression, and sensational burlesque moments ahead.
