The Birth Of A Burlesque Haven
Five years ago, Featherstone Follies was created as a welcoming space for anyone drawn to the empowering art of burlesque. Founded by Paris, the class quickly became a sanctuary where self-expression, confidence, and community could thrive. From the very beginning, Featherstone Follies embraced burlesque in all its forms, combining playful glamour with strong technique and mutual support.
Through routines featuring gloves, boas, ostrich fans, bump and grinds, and theatrical storytelling, the Follies discovered not just how to dance, but how to step fully into their confidence. Friendships were formed, self-belief blossomed, and the studio became a place where everyone was encouraged to shine.
Overcoming Challenges Together
Like many creative communities, Featherstone Follies faced challenges during the global pandemic. When in person classes were no longer possible, the group adapted with determination and heart. Online Zoomets classes became a lifeline, keeping the spirit of burlesque alive and maintaining the strong bonds within the group.
This period proved that Featherstone Follies is more than a class. It is a community rooted in resilience, creativity, and shared passion. Even when separated, the connection remained strong and the commitment to burlesque never wavered.

A Night To Remember The Burlesque Ball Show 2021
The Burlesque Ball Show at Drax Sports and Social Club in 2021 was a standout moment in Featherstone Follies history. Their powerful performance of Cell Block Tango earned them the prestigious Best Group Performance award, a reflection of their teamwork, precision, and stage presence.
Alongside the group success, individual and duo performances lit up the stage, showcasing the depth of talent within the class. It was an evening filled with pride, applause, and unforgettable energy that firmly cemented Featherstone Follies as a force within the Burlesque With Paris community.

Emerald Fuego received Miss Dedicated for her unwavering commitment, while Madam Von Taffly was celebrated as Miss Most Improved, recognising her incredible transformation and confidence.

Later that year, the Burlesque Ball returned to Drax Sports and Social Club with a spectacular evening of solo and duo performances. While there was no full class routine, Featherstone Follies performers delivered unforgettable acts filled with glamour, humour, and storytelling.
The night embodied everything burlesque stands for: empowerment, expression, and the joy of performance.

The 2022 class awards once again highlighted the incredible talent within Featherstone Follies. Ruby July was crowned Star Of The Class, Lola Sparkles received Miss Dedicated, and Cupid Stunt earned Miss Most Improved for her remarkable growth and confidence.
Each award celebrated not just skill, but perseverance, courage, and personal evolution.
A Journey Through Class Routines And Burlesque Styles
Over the years, Featherstone Follies have explored a rich and varied journey through the world of burlesque, embracing routines that celebrate both classic glamour and playful modern flair. From the sultry confidence of bump and grind choreography using gloves and boas, to the dramatic elegance of feather fan routines, each term has offered new challenges and opportunities for growth. The timeless allure of Welcome To Burlesque allowed performers to master the art of tease and poise, while Feeling Good showcased control, power, and graceful fan work.
Theatrical storytelling took centre stage with the iconic Cell Block Tango, a show stopping routine that demanded strength, character, and precision, while festive favourites such as Santa Baby and It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas brought sparkle, humour, and seasonal charm. The Follies also embraced vintage glamour through All That Jazz with trilby hats and fringe skirts, alongside the rhythmic energy of Back In Time using gypsy coin skirts, adding texture and movement to their performances. Each routine built confidence, stage presence, and technical skill, creating a repertoire that reflects the versatility, creativity, and dedication of the Featherstone Follies. Through every prop, pose, and performance, the class has continued to grow, shine, and truly embody the spirit of burlesque.
