We love hearing how our classes impact the women who join us. This review was shared by Ruby Reckless, a member of our Selby Starlets class, who joined Burlesque with Paris in January 2025.

Ruby shares her experience of finding confidence, community, and empowerment through burlesque classes, as well as performing on stage for the first time.

“I'm Ruby Reckless from the Selby Starlets class. I joined in January 2025 because I was looking for something outside of a very busy home life where I could be myself, have fun, rebuild my confidence, and find new friends. Joining the Burlesque with Paris family gave me so much more.

The classes are so much fun. They're empowering and inclusive, no matter your dance level, and there is never any pressure to be anything other than yourself.

The way Tina encourages us to explore confidence, movement, and expression feels safe, supportive, and super enjoyable.

The shows and performances are such a highlight. They're exciting and affirming instead of intimidating, and you're supported every step of the way.

I performed on stage for the first time as part of a group. I was so nervous I didn't think I'd be able to do it, but the support and encouragement meant I went out and enjoyed every moment.

Our group even went on to win Best Group Performance, which was the cherry on top! Receiving Most Improved 2025 meant everything.

Being part of Burlesque with Paris feels celebratory – you're made to feel proud of every step you achieve.

As an instructor, Tina (Paris) brings warmth, humour, and understanding to every class. She sees each woman as an individual and creates an environment where confidence grows naturally.

Burlesque here isn’t about perfection. It’s about self-expression, confidence, and reconnecting with yourself in a powerful, joyful way.

I’ve gained so much more than performance skills. I’ve gained confidence, community and a sense of ownership over my body and presence.
