DIY Burlesque - How To Make A Rhinestone Bra!

I love the world of burlesque. It’s fun, sassy, sexy, confidence-boosting and just the best thing in the world!

Burlesque performing isn’t about just getting onto the stage and taking your clothes off, it’s about how you want to portray yourself on stage and that includes your costume. Luckily for all our lovely burlesque ladies at Burlesque With Paris there are a few tricks of the trade that can help you bring the cost of your costumes down in price so your not spending a fortune to look amazingly beautiful when you step onto the stage.

Here’s how you can make a rhinestone bra that will be perfect for you to shimmy and twirl in while your performing.

What You Will Need:

  • Bra

  • Measuring Tape

  • Fast Tack Glue

  • White Wax Pencil Crayon

  • Flat Backed Rhinestones

Before you start you need to choose a bra (what style and colour, there are so many to choose from you will be spoilt for choice).

Decide on what colour rhinestones, shapes, and size you are wanting to use. We recommend eBay as there are so many different types of rhinestones you can buy in all different colours you will have plenty to choose from.

How To:

  • Decide and measure the height and width of one of the cups so you know the size of the area you're going to be working with.

  • Draw your cup shape and size on to a piece of paper and play about with shapes and patterns that you want to use with your rhinestones.

  • Once you have decided on your shapes and patterns you can begin sticking your rhinestones to your bra using your glue. Using a small amount of glue and working in a small area at a time. Use your white wax pencil crayon for picking up your rhinestones to stick onto the bra. It makes it easier as sticking rhinestone can be a fiddly task.

  • Once you have finished your first cup repeat your design on the other cup of your bra.

  • Decide if you're going to add rhinestones to your bra straps or any lace that you may have on your bra below the cups.

  • Leave your bra for 24 hours to allow the glue to dry.

Voila! Your rhinestone bra is now ready for you to shimmy and twirl in!
