When it comes to performing ALL of our students always say they will never have the confidence to step onto a stage and perform, but let me tell you, ALL of our students who don’t perform always say at every show I wish I had performed tonight and I will definitely be doing it next time….
Once you have made the decision and signed yourself up for your very first burlesque performance, it does not matter whether you're performing your first solo debut or performing with your fellow burlesque lovelies in your class, your nerves are going to go through the roof and you will barely put one foot in front of the other without shaking. BUT, that does not mean you can’t go out on that stage and do it!
The secret to a successful performance is all about self-knowledge, self-perception, and self-belief. Once you have ticked all of those boxes you will find the confidence inside yourself to perform an absolutely spectacular performance that any audience will applaud.

KNOW YOUR ROUTINE
When performing there are always going to be little hick-ups and things that we ALL worry about, costume malfunctions, forgetting your routine halfway through your performance, your props not doing what you want them to do, or some other unfortunate event occurring….. Well let me tell you, you won’t be the first, and you certainly won’t be the last! Learn your routine, learn it until you know it inside and out, then if something goes tits-up on the night you will have the confidence in yourself and your routine to pull it back without anyone in the audience even noticing.
Burlesque With Paris hosts shows every year which are planned out perfectly so everyone knows what they are doing and when they are doing it. All of our class performances are learned during your class times and support is always given for all of our solo performers.
WEAR A COSTUME YOU LOVE
One of the best things about performing is the costume that you will be performing in, and one of the best things about choosing a costume to perform in is the variety of outfits that you have the choice to wear! You can have anything from sparkles, glitter, lace, leather, feathers…….. the choices are just simply never-ending and it’s one of the things that all of our burlesque lovelies love doing costume shopping. When you're choosing your costume to perform in, make sure you choose an outfit that you love and feel good about yourself in. I can guarantee that if you are shimmying in a costume that you love and feel comfortable in, then your confidence on stage will be incredible your shimmy will be shimmytastic, and you will feel like a million dollars!
Burlesque With Paris offers all of our burlesque lovelies the use of all of our fabulous props which you use in your classes. Whether you're wanting to use a feather boa, a set of fans, or even just a pair of gloves to help you finesse your burlesque look as well as saving you some money so you have more money to spend on your costume, all of our burlesque lovelies are welcome to use anything they want to use. Just speak to your instructor and we will happily make these goodies available for you.
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
Burlesque is inclusive, it doesn’t judge and it doesn’t exclude, you can be yourself and be accepted for being yourself. We all find it difficult to believe in ourselves at times, but it’s something that you need to do, it’s something that you need to do for yourself as well as your burlesque performance! Being part of a burlesque class is something that empowers, encourages, and supports. One way you can boost your self-belief is by performing with your fellow burlesque lovelies from your class, there is nothing like dancing together in class, performing together on stage, and living the moment together on the night. It’s empowering, encouraging, and very supportive for anyone who really is not ready to stand on stage on their own.
Burlesque With Paris instructors work hard to choreograph class routines for our shows which are choreographed to all of the strengths of all of our burlesque lovelies. If there is something that anyone is struggling with, it doesn’t matter we simply change it so you are all comfortable within the routine that you are performing. We do this so that all of our students feel included and supported throughout the build-up to a show, during a show, and after a show.
