The Journey Begins…

As the doors of Selby Sirens swung open for the first time back in 2019, the air was charged with a mix of excitement and anticipation. Each participant, regardless of her background or reason for joining, was united by a shared curiosity and a desire to discover her own version of the burlesque persona. Paris led by example, showcasing not just the physical aspects of burlesque but also imparting lessons on confidence, body positivity, and the importance of storytelling through movement.

The early days of Selby Sirens were characterised by a palpable sense of discovery and experimentation. Classes quickly became more than just weekly dance lessons, they evolved into a space where boundaries were pushed, and personal narratives were woven into captivating performances. The reopening of Selby Sirens on the 2nd of June 2021 signalled a poignant moment of resurgence for the community, an event eagerly anticipated by both seasoned members and newcomers alike. This occasion was more than just a return to familiar surroundings, it represented a collective rebirth of spirit and passion that had been momentarily dimmed but never extinguished. The atmosphere was electric, charged with an indescribable sense of joy and anticipation as the Selby Sirens stepped back into the studio, a testament to the resilience and unwavering bond that had sustained them through periods of uncertainty.

The classes quickly resumed their rhythm, with each session building upon the last, rekindling the unique blend of empowerment, expression, and camaraderie that defines the essence of Selby Sirens. With the merging of our two dynamic groups, we witnessed an enriching blend of talent and dedication that was both inspiring and transformative. In a celebration of this dedication, we were delighted to honour three outstanding individuals who epitomised the spirit and passion of our burlesque family. Blushing Rouge captured the essence of Star Of The Class 2022, demonstrating exceptional grace, creativity, and leadership on and off the stage. Her ability to inspire those around her has been nothing short of remarkable.

Miss Dedicated 2022 was deservedly awarded to Delicious Denise, whose unwavering commitment and hard work have set a formidable example for all members of our troupe. Her dedication goes beyond personal achievement, contributing significantly to the nurturing and success of the group as a whole.
