HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO OUR SASSY SIRENS

It’s been 4 years since Selby Sirens opened and although we have missed a lot of class time over the past couple of years with the pandemic we have still managed to keep the burlesque feeling alive with our online classes and have made up for the lost time when we have been able to be in class together.

The ladies in this class are just simply amazing and it’s a pleasure to be in class with them all each and every week. They’re all so committed and an absolute credit to me in so many ways. Classes are so much fun with them all and they are always happy and smiling each and every week, striving to show the world what incredible individuals they all are!

Sadly the Sirens class had to close down on 18th March 2020 which was when the whole of the UK was getting ready to go into lockdown and staying at home to stay safe. Although we did have the Zoomets during the pandemic there were so many things that we all had to miss out on.

On the 2nd of June 2021, we were able to reopen Selby Sirens and our fabulous fun Wednesday nights have continued ever since. We have had the pleasure of welcoming new ladies into the class and making lots of magical memories along the way.

They have all really enjoyed all the routines they have learned and loved dancing with all the different props that they have danced with. Over the 2 years when we have been able to be in class together they have learned:

It’s Beginning To Look Allot Like Christmas - Ostrich Fans

We were able to hold our Annual Show on the 12th of November 2021 at Drax Sports and Social club which was amazing. It was definitely the best Annual show we have ever hosted and everyone worked so hard with all of their show performances. Selby Sirens performed a fabulous group performance to Bump and Grinds along with a double performance from Delicious Denise and Bubblez Byzance, and a solo performance from Delicious Denise. They were all bloody fantastic and made me so proud.

Our Class Awards for the Sirens class for 2021 went to, Star Of The Class 2021 - Bubblez Byzance, Miss Dedicated 2021 - Havanna Hepburn and Miss Most Improved 2021 - Dottie May Rebelle. All 3 of our Sassy Sirens deserved their awards and really have worked so hard and grown in confidence throughout the past 2 years. It has been incredible to watch them blossom into the Sassy Sirens that they are.

On the 6th of May 2022, we hosted our first Student Showcase Show since the Pandemic at the Girnhill Club in Featherstone and what a fabulous night it was. We had four spectacular performances from our Sassy Sirens Heather Ann Lace, Delicious Denise, Pink Champagne, and Emerald Divine along with other performers from other classes. It was a show to remember and a night that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who performed as well as our audience.

On the 12th of November 2022, it was Annual Show time at Drax Sports and Social club. It was a fabulous night and amazing to see all of our burlesque lovelies perform on stage. Selby Sirens performed a fabulous group performance to ‘Pink Panther and Big Spender’ along with other performances from Delicious Denise, Dottie May Rebelle, Heather Ann Lace, Havana Hepburn, and Pink Champagne. They were all magnificent performances and the audience roared with applause for them all.

Our Class Awards were mixed this year for the Sirens and Starlets classes together as we merged the classes when we started practicing the class Annual Show routine. The class awards for 2022 went to, Star Of The Class 2022 - Blushing Rouge, Miss Dedicated 2022 - Delicious Denise and Miss Most Improved 2022 - Amethyst Allure. All 3 of our Sassy Sirens and Sparkly Starlets deserved their awards and have grown in confidence throughout the past 2 years. It has been incredible to watch them blossom into the Sassy Sirens and Sparkly Starlets that they are.
